Tragedies like this are due to the lack of knowledge about lightning. Voids in knowledge can lead to superstitions, myths, and misconceptions about the causes of lightning. Others have gone to prison (DRC) for 'calling down lightning' to kills others or accused of hiring a shaman to cause damage or kill.

NOTE -- this report is highly suspicious. Vigilantes, hired to go after an eight-man kidnapping ring that has been terrorizing the area, claim they 'find' decomposing bodies of three people that are 'burned beyond recognition' and flout their skills with charms and witchcraft methods. Authorities also seem suspicious.
