The Lightning Protection Working Group (LPWG) was formed in 2018 to design lightning protection (LP) for schools. Members include ACLENet leadership and staff and internationally known lightning protection experts from South Africa, the USA, and other countries who volunteer their time to design lightning protection systems consistent with IEC 62305 standards to protect school children.
Since LPWG was formed, organizations have sought advice including a church in Kenya, schools in the DRC and Uganda, a tea plantation in Rwanda, medical centers/hospitals in Mozambique and Tanzania, and others.
